About this episode
Six carved trolls wait on the shelf while a seventh is sanded and polished through the evening, heavy rain on the fjord outside the houseboat ๐ฒ Ghibli style ASMR: Norwegian fish cakes with lingonberry jam, soft folded lefse, a warm amber cordial, and a bed under the glass roof at the very top.
The tall wooden houseboat threads between the sheer walls of the fjord, snow dusting the high ledges while the rain comes down in ropes. Sven tugs his cap lower at the helm, draws the lever back, and the house settles at anchor in a sheltered cove. Inside is all firelight: a stone fireplace, two rocking chairs, a wall of books. Ingrid unwinds her wet burgundy scarf, and Mathilde drops to the hearth rug to greet Nisse, the grey tabby.
In the kitchen, pink fish mince turns under a wooden spoon in the blue-rimmed bowl, and six round cakes take shape on the floured board โ the last one patted smooth in Ingrid's hands. They brown in the cast-iron pan while lefse is rolled paper-thin and folded into soft quarters on its cloth, and a deep-blue bowl fills with lingonberry jam. Across the room, Sven sits by the bookshelf with sandpaper whispering over a little wooden troll, working it slowly toward its shine.
The amber cordial is poured into small glasses and supper is eaten close to the fire. Then the finished troll takes its place on the shelf โ seventh in the row โ before resting a while in Mathilde's palm. Candles burn low, the cat curls tight on the rug, and the family climbs to the triangular glass observatory at the very top of the house, where the rain thins to almost nothing and the fjord goes still.
No talking. Just rain, a stone fireplace and quiet company.
๐ง Layered ASMR: heavy rain between the cliff walls, water shifting under the hull, a wet scarf unwound, fish mince folded in a bowl, cakes turning in cast iron, a rolling pin over thin dough, sandpaper on carved wood, cordial poured into small glasses, a wooden troll set gently on the shelf, fire settling to embers, the last drops on the glass roof.
Best with headphones. Made for sleep, study, reading and slow evenings.

the way the light moves across the room as time passes is so well done
no music no talking just rain and it's somehow more soothing than anything with lyrics
the little puddle forming on the windowsill is such a nice detail ngl
sent this to my sister who's scared of thunder, she said it actually helped her fall asleep
the little details like steam rising off the tea while rain hammers the roof, whoever animates this notices everything
just the sound of a log settling and cracking, no jumpscare no nothing, love it
