Grapes hang low as rain drips in thin threads through the vine pergola of a catamaran moored by a sea cave 🍇 Ghibli style ASMR: moussaka with cinnamon tomato sauce, golden triangle pastries, herbal tea with honey, and a bunk cabin below deck.
Rain has been driving across the Aegean since morning. Despina keeps her hands on the wet wooden helm, reads the grey line of the cliffs, and steers the twin-hulled catamaran into a turquoise cove in front of a sea cave. The anchor goes down, and above the deck the wooden pergola — a real grapevine woven through its beams — drips softly in the downpour.
The wet jacket goes up on the vine trellis, and the day moves below, into a narrow galley of copper pots where Despina and Eleni work side by side. Eggplant slices crisp in olive oil, tomato sauce simmers around a cinnamon stick, and the moussaka comes together layer by layer under a snowfall of grated cheese, four hand-folded triangle pastries stacked on a white plate beside it. A clay teapot fills with herbs and steam, and at a little loom a burgundy-and-cream rug grows one soft row at a time.
They eat under the pergola as the lantern comes on — moussaka steaming in its white dish, honey stirred into the tea, ripe grapes hanging low over the table. Then the little cabin below is made up, two round portholes dark against the water, and the rain thins until the first stars show above the vine.
No talking. Just rain, simmering pots and quiet company.
